WALK FAQ 

Frequently Asked Questions

When can I register?   You can sign up today until the day of the walk at www.namiwalks.org/hawaii, and you can also register at the event, just head to the registration tent when you arrive.  Or contact Kumi at [email protected].

Can I Volunteer?  Yes, we are having volunteer for set up, running booths, and clean up. Please contact Kumi at [email protected].

Does it cost anything?  No.  IT IS FREE. There is no registration fee, but we encourage everyone to raise at least $100 for a free t-shirt.  There are other incentives for fundraising until 30 days after the walk.  The more you raise, there better the prize, such as caps, jackets and other great items.

How do I get my event t-shirt?  If you have raised $100, you are eligible for an event t-shirt.  If you are on a team, your team captain will get your t-shirt coupon for you.  If you are walking as an individual, head to the registration tent when you arrive to get your t-shirt coupon.

Where is the start of the walk (Sky Gate) and where do I park?  There will be free parking at the Frank Fasi municipal parking lot on Alapai and S. Beretania St. Please do not parked in the reserved stalls. Sky Gate is located on the field on the S. King St. side.

When should I arrive and what should I do when I get there?  Check in starts at 8 am and the walk starts at 9 am.   If you are with a team, check with your team captain about where you want to meet as a group, and then your team captain can head to the registration tent to collect your t-shirt tickets and walker bags.  If you are walking as an individual, head to the registration tent to collect your walker bag and turn in any registration forms or donations you still have.  Then enjoy the entertainment until the Walk kicks off at 9 am.

Where are the bathrooms?  Bathrooms are located near the corner of King St. and Alapai St.

Will there be first aid?  Yes, there will be a first aid tent.

Will there be activities for kids?  Yes! We will have a bouncy house, face painters, balloon artists and more.

Can I bring my dog? Yes!  Please bring your leash, water bowl, and waste bags.

Will there be food?  Yes, before and after the walk, a variety of food vendors will be selling treats.  Please bring cash.  A light snack and water will also be provided in the walker bags (limited quantities so come early).

What if it rains?  We will walk rain or shine, although we expect it to be sunny.  Banana Boat will generously donated sunscreen for all of our walkers available at the First Aid Tent.

Will there be prizes?  Yes!  We will have prizes for the top individual fundraiser, the top fundraising team, and the team with the best t-shirts.  We will also be giving away prizes on stage.

What will there be to do?  There will be a live performances, a community information booth, food booths, a free massage tent provided by Remington College, and Ask the Therapist.  We are planning for Beach Body Coach to do the warm ups and keiki zone with bouncy houses, balloon animals, face painting and other activities.

Can I turn in donations after the event?  Yes, you may send donations after the event to:  NAMI Hawaii, 770 Kapiolani Blvd. Suite 613, Honolulu, Hawaii 96813.
